Break The Fake

Social Issue Landing Page

"Break the Fake" is a landing page that tackles the rise of online disinformation. It highlights how fast fake news spreads, specifically content that is sensational, emotionally charged, or totally fabricated to mimic real news.

In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, "fake news" has evolved from simple rumors into a sophisticated crisis of misinformation that threatens the foundation of informed decision-making.

As users scroll, three layers of titles physically break apart, visually demonstrating how disinformation—though seemingly solid—can shatter into meaningless fragments when scrutinized. To maintain the investigative feel, the "solutions" are presented in an accordion layout that mimics the look of evidence folders found in a detective’s office.

The project’s colour palette is intentionally unsettling. By pairing a piercing, high-visibility green with stark black and white, the design evokes the "uncanny" and uncomfortable nature of digital deception. This electric green reflects the artificiality of misleading online content, supporting the overall mission to alert users to the "fake" hiding in plain sight.

To scale its impact, "Break the Fake" transitions from a digital landing page into a tangible, community-driven offline platform. By establishing a physical presence to the public, the initiative meets people face-to-face to bridge the digital divide.

Developing this high-impact, single-page experience allowed me to push the boundaries of experimental interaction design, moving away from standard website structures to create something truly immersive. By exploring unique visual metaphors and "scrollytelling" techniques, I learned how to effectively capture user attention and maintain engagement, turning the act of scrolling into a continuous journey of discovery.
