Born from the wisdom of Indigenous healers, Labrador Tea carries the pure breath of the northern forest. Traditionally brewed to ease the lungs and calm the body, its aromatic leaves release natural compounds that soothe and restore with every sip, a gentle echo of ancient remedies carried through the cold northern air. This Labrador Tea sampler features two tasting portions in a package to support urban dwellers who manage respiratory discomfort in the city landscape.
Labrador tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum) is native to Québec’s northern and boreal regions, thriving in moist, acidic habitats such as peat bogs and wet coniferous forests. Well adapted to cold, nutrient-poor soils rich in sphagnum moss, it is commonly found from Bas-Saint-Laurent and Côte-Nord to the Ungava region.

To focus on this tea’s key benefit, which offers support for respiratory system, the package showcases the essential rhythms of exhalation and contraction that define our breath and sustain life. The accordion folds expand and contract just as the lungs expand and contract with each inhale and exhale. With this movement, the air passes through with the tea’s aromatic scent, inviting the users to experience a sense of gentle release and renewal by physically compressing the form to release the scent.

Typography became a key element in building the product’s identity. Pure typographic arrangement as key visual elements showcase the simplicity and cleanest of the blend’s taste. The elongated and condensed type reflects the form of the Labrador leaves, reinforcing its visual identity.

Every aspect of the layout and colour scheme reinforces the tea's delicate simplicity. Through a structured two-column grid and a generous use of negative space, the design achieves a sense of refined elegance. This is completed by a monochromatic palette; the stark contrast between black and white pays homage to the cold, powerful landscapes of the north.

While this Labrador Tea sampler serves as a functional support for urban dwellers managing respiratory discomfort, its core purpose is to honor Indigenous cultural roots and the restorative power of nature. This tribute is woven into the brand through the inclusion of traditional names—maskēkopakwa, mashkigobag, and s'ikshaldéen—celebrating the diverse linguistic heritage of this medicinal botanical.
